26 August 2005 - I just checked out Tahlía's latest album on BillBoard. It peaked at number 3 and has dropped like a rock to number 25. I have been chastised for buying her albums and when El Sexto Sentido was released, there were stores that claimed you could buy it for $9.95 but they didn't have any. I would have purchased the one with the DVD, if I could have found it. With Sharkira still being available for $11.95, who would want to buy Thalía at $15.95. Since then, I think the reviewers were right and this is not a must album to buy. You should listen to it on the radio and be content. That will save you money.
It is 24 December 2004 and I was watching a performance on Univision called "Thalía: La trayectoria". All I could think of was she shouldn't freelance perform. All one of the songs did is give me goosebumps (carne de gallina) to watch. The problem was that she barely sounded close to hitting the notes and close isn't good enough. I also need to point out that "Arrasando" is one of my favorite música latina albums. It is always in my "Now Playing" list on my Nomad.
It is 5 July 2004 and I am loading my audio tracks onto my new Nomad Zen Xtra. Arrasando just started playing. I still think it is the best album that Thalía ever released. I can´t count how many times I have woke up having "Arrasando" track running through my mind.
It is 21 May 2002 and Thalía´s album called Thalia was available at all of the local music stores. I had been trying to find out when it would be available and not getting anywhere. Then, this afternoon I just happened to walk by the "Música Latína" section at Circuit City and found it. It has 14 songs on it. There are 11 in español and 3 in English and the total play time is just over 57 minutes. There is a duet version of "Tu Y Yo" with A. B. Quintanilla (Selena's brother). It is a good foot thumping song as you listen to it. There are 2 versions of "The Mexican 2002". The 1st one is in español and the 2nd is in English. To get your attention, she says, "Attention! Attention! You are about to venture into the English portion of this project" and then she sings "The Mexican 2002" in English. The next 2 songs are in English and are called "Closer to You" and "You Spin Me Around".
One of the album photographs has an image of her like she dressed in her early "Rocker Days". She has a happy smile in all of the album photographs. I don´t think it possible for anyone to take a bad photograph of her. I kind of wondered what Mottolo saw in her when he married her. She is a lot younger but I think you can see what he is seeing on the photos on this album. Just in case you still have any doubts, think how lucky he is to be married to her and to have missed Mariah Carey´s meltdown.
My Michuacan friend finally woke me up. She did not like Thalía's English songs. I went back and paid close attention to the whole album. It is poorly engineered and the English songs are terrible. The 2nd and 3rd songs are really noisy. This may be some sort of protection but it doesn´t matter if I play the album on my computer, the dvd player on my audio, video system, or a cd player on any of my home audio systems. They are equally terrible on all of them.
It has been some time since Thalía was one of my new Latina artists. It just took awhile for my taste in music to discover her music. Her official web site is Thalía. A web site that has the words to most of her songs is Ciudadfutura. Her "Arrasando" is an interesting album to listen to. I currently own Amor a la Mexicano, Arrasando, Con Banda, and En Extasis. I was able to create an 80 minute CD of her music just using Con Banda and Arrasando. The songs may repeat on some of them but they really have a different sound on each one. I have listened to Arrasando off and on for more than a year but it really never caught on until recently. Then, I think, I saw the video of "Amor a la mexicana" on TV and was facinated and I started listening to Arrasando. It was shortly after that, that I found Con Banda and purchased it. Then, I combined them into a full CD of Thalía. I had to remove two and it was down to "Pata, Pata" or something else and I left "Pata, Pata" in my list of songs. After that, if I encountered a new Thalía CD, I would purchase it. The only one that I haven´t really liked was En Extasis but there were a number of songs on it that I like.
Thalía was also a soap star. Her "Maria la del barrio" can be watched on Univision TV from my satelite dish. I can not handle the soap but she sings the theme song on each commercial. This is kind of funny because I have alway left the room during the commercials and now I find myself walking into watch them when either Thalá or Lucero sing their theme songs.
